FRESHMAN STARS AS LHS GIRLS BLANK TAYLOR

 

LAWRENCEBURG - Lawrenceburg girls varsity soccer edged out to 3-2 for the season with a 3-0 shutout win over Ohio stateline rival Taylor Thursday, Aug. 23.

In a typically physical battle with the visiting Yellow Jackets (0-3) at Dick Meador Stadium, three different Lady Tigers scored goals and senior goalkeeper Erin Hill registered her second shutout win in two consecutive starts.

Junior Hannah Brayton tallied the first LHS goal at 25:14 in the first half, heading home the ball off the corner kick from freshman Ryleigh Offutt.

LAWRENCEBURG - Lawrenceburg girls varsity soccer evened its season mark at 2-2 with an 8-0 win over visiting Rising Sun (1-3) Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Dick Meador Stadium

Senior forward Jenna Farmer led Coach Bill Offutt's crew with a three-goal hat trick, scoring twice in the first half, as the Lady Tigers pushed out to a 3-0 halftime advantage.

Farmer broke the scoring ice at 24:10 in the first 40 minutes, finding net off the cross assist from the left corner by classmate Makenna White.

MOORES HILL - Lawrenceburg's Hannah Morgan became the first Tigers individual runner to win a cross country meet in some time as South Dearborn cross country unveiled its new varsity course at Moores Hill Wednesday, Aug. 15.

TIGER SPIKERS SERVE UP OPENING EIAC WIN

 

LAWRENCEBURG - Lawrenceburg's volleyball varsity went the distance for a season-opening conference win over visiting Connersville Wednesday night, Aug. 15, 3-2.

Lady Tigers ultimately prevailed 25-15, 23-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-13, led by a big 21 kills from freshman Cora Taylor, playing her first varsity match.

LAWRENCEBURG - In a season-opening battle of state-ranked boys varsity soccer teams Tuesday, Aug. 14, Lawrenceburg's Jason Goepper tied the contest 1-1 on a picturesque head ball goal, off the long cross from Max Reinshagen, at 13:22 in the second half.

LAWRENCEBURG - Defense was the name of the game as Lawrenceburg girls varsity soccer shut out visiting Oldenburg Academy 2-0 in the season opener for both teams Tuesday night at Dick Meador Stadium.

L'BURG GIRLS AIM FOR POSTSEASON

GRID SCRIMMAGES FRIDAY FOR COUNTY TEAMS

 

All three Dearborn County high school football teams will get dress rehearsals for their 2018 season openers this coming Friday night.

• Defending Class 4A state champion East Central will unveil its new artificial turf surface at Trojan Field in St. Leon to the general public for the first time when it hosts New Albany in controlled scrimmage action at 7 p.m.

• Lawrenceburg's Tigers take to the road to meet New Castle Chrysler in a 7:30 p.m. scrimmage at Huffman Field in Henry County.

SKYLINE HOSTS TIGERS PEP RALLY AUG. 13

 

LAWRENCEBURG - Lawrenceburg Skyline Chili will host a Tigers Pep Rally Monday, Aug. 13, in advance of the football season opener at East Central Friday, Au

The rally kicks off at 6 p.m. at the restaurant at 714 Eads Parkway. Twenty percent of all food sales from 6-8 p.m. will benefit Lawrenceburg High School athletics.

There will be prize giveaways, including Skyline Chili gift cards and t-shirts and performances by the Lawrenceburg band and cheerleaders.
