Vietnam Veterans chapter seeks new members

The Southeastern Indiana Lary D. Fogle Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter No. 71 is located in Aurora in the VFW Building and they meet monthly on the last Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m.

The chapter has 94 members and all of them are Life Members and they are very proud of that. They are always looking for new members. If you served in the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War, whether you were Boots on Ground or a Vietnam Era Veteran, you qualify for membership.

East Central FFA compete at state convention

The East Central FFA chapter attended the Indiana FFA State Convention at Purdue University.
From June 19 to June 21, members competed in several Career Development Events that included quiz bowl, freshman creed speaking, food science demonstration, and agricultural mechanics demonstration.
Those members that competed included Heath Doll, Madison Shumate, Jacob Messmer, Kayla Miles, Alex Dudley, Madison McAdams, and Brandon Hoffman.
Other members that attended include Amelia Hartman and Bailey Grunkemeyer.

Library district director is speaker at senior luncheon


Whew! We made it through the heat! Coming up are cool nights and fall leaves.

Hooray for the coming of autumn with Old Friends & Bright Beginnings. We will gather together at Dearborn Hills United Methodist Churchat at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.

Car show had many different winners

Cars, trucks and motorcycles, from antique to modern, turned out in the hundreds for the 22nd Rising Sun Shiners Pride Car Show Sunday, July 8.
Eric Sams’ 1967 Red Dodge Charger won Best of Show, but there were plenty of other entries and winners.
