MOORES HILL - East Central cross country runners flooded South Dearborn's new Moores Hill course Tuesday, Aug. 21, with red and black, sweeping both the girls and boys four-way meets with perfect scores.

In the girls’ 5K (3.1 mile) race, the Lady Trojans took the top five spots for a perfect team score of 15.

Emilee Wedding, Lauren Greiwe, Emma Fey, Lily Greiwe and Riley Davis crossed the finish line in order, with EC's Halle Davis seventh and Lacey Kelly ninth.

Wedding was the individual first-place finisher, setting a new course record in a time of 21:48. South Dearborn girls took second with 65 points, Milan was third.

Trojan boys not only packed in the top five, but also battled it out for the sixth position.

EC senior Garrett Ardis set a new course record with his individual win in a time of 19:17.

Kyle Gutfreund, Anders Fox, Michael Schwebach, Griffin Werner and Kyle Schuman finished in order behind Ardis.

The most exciting races wasthe battle for sixth between Schuman and Kevin Theilman of Milan. Exhanged positions at least six times over the 3.1 miles, they duked it out all the way into the finish, with Schuman getting his shoulder in front of Theilman by just two hundredths of a second.

South Dearborn placed second with 58, Lawrenceburg was third with 67 and the team from

Milan was incomplete, not having the 5 necessary to complete a team.

Several East Central runners ran season bests, including Wedding, Lauren and Lily Greiwe, Fey, Riley and Halle Davis, Kelly, Schuman, J.J. Stenger, Brody Sandlin, Danny Deddens and Ethan Campbell.

Trojans hit their first major meet of the season at the Rushville Invitational this Saturday.
