LADY TIGERS 2-2 AFTER 8-0 WIN VS. SHINERS

 

LAWRENCEBURG - Lawrenceburg girls varsity soccer evened its season mark at 2-2 with an 8-0 win over visiting Rising Sun (1-3) Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Dick Meador Stadium

Senior forward Jenna Farmer led Coach Bill Offutt's crew with a three-goal hat trick, scoring twice in the first half, as the Lady Tigers pushed out to a 3-0 halftime advantage.

Farmer broke the scoring ice at 24:10 in the first 40 minutes, finding net off the cross assist from the left corner by classmate Makenna White.

LHS junior Hannah Brayton made the lead 2-0 at 17:58 in the first half, assisted by freshman Chloe Meyer.

Farmer scored her second goal, again assisted from the left side by White, with 8:09 left in the first half.

She converted the hat trick with Lawrenceburg's first goal in the second period, just 25:23 in, off the assist by junior Lexi Knight, who passed from the end line back to the six-yard box in front.

Junior Chloe Rutzel got into the scoring act with 11:08 remaining on the game clock, assisted by senior Hannah Miller on the backward pass for a 20-yard blast to make it 4-0, Tigers.

Freshman Ryleigh Offutt scored on a through ball inside the 18-yard line with 9:54 left to play, assisted by junior Avery Seig.

Makenna White raised the margin to 7-0 with her score from inside the 18, off the assist from sophomore Holly Knippenberg, with 6:51 on the game clock.

Brayton added her second goal of the night with 2:22 to play, converting from the top of the 18, assisted by Rutzel.

Senior goalkeeper Erin Hill was credited with one save in earning the shutout victory Tuesday.

Lawrenceburg junior varsity recorded a 4-0 victory over South Ripley in Tuesday's preliminary contest.

Tiger jayvee led 3-0 at halftime, with goals by Maleah Martini, assisted by Knippenberg (12:54); Meyer, with the assist to Knippenberg (11:28); and freshman Kristen Roark, assisted by Ella McAndrew (2:20).

Roark added her second goal in the match with 2:20 left, assisted by classmate Emma Dunn. Freshman keeper Kate Brayton registered one save to go with the clean sheet.
