South Dearborn junior Erin Huber (1), pictured in last year's Class 2A sectional against Batesville, opened the Lady Knights' 2018 season Wednesday with a three-goal hat trick in a 4-3 win over Boone County (Ky.).

 

AURORA - Junior Erin Huber scored a three-goal hat trick to set the stage for senior Ashley Bishop's game-winner as South Dearborn girls soccer opened its season with a 4-3 nailbiter win over Boone County (Ky.) Wednesday.

Coach Bob Matola's Lady Knights got two assists from senior Alyssa McClanahan and another from junior Katie Cutter in downing the visiting Rebels (1-1) in a first-time matchup between the two clubs.

Boone County defeated Bluegrass State rival Scott 6-0 in its season opener Monday, Aug. 13.

South Dearborn outshot Boone County 17-12.

Lady Knights host another non-conference Kentucky rival when St. Henry's Crusaders invade Saturday for a varsity/reserve doubleheader at 2 p.m.
