HVL Scouts are as good as gold

Cara Morman earns her Girl Scout Gold Award by creating a cookbook for the North Dearborn Food Pantry.

As Hidden Valley Lake residents Cara and Jamie Morman prepare for the next step in the their academic careers, they have already made a difference in their community.

Earlier this year, both earned their Girl Scout Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Girl Scout Council.

Both girls are members of Troop 46465 and have been since kindergarten.

William Franklin Moore, 40, of 9865 Flagstone Drive, Independence, Ky., was arrested at 4 a.m. Sunday, June 3, for theft.

James T. Ceyaya, 44, of 9920 Ind. 262, Dillsboro, was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, June 3, for domestic battery.

Nine M. Lapine, 55, of 1810 Hatcher Hill Road, Madison, Ind., was arrested at 1:01 a.m. Monday, June 4, for criminal recklessness.

GRID SCRIMMAGES FRIDAY FOR COUNTY TEAMS

 

All three Dearborn County high school football teams will get dress rehearsals for their 2018 season openers this coming Friday night.

• Defending Class 4A state champion East Central will unveil its new artificial turf surface at Trojan Field in St. Leon to the general public for the first time when it hosts New Albany in controlled scrimmage action at 7 p.m.

• Lawrenceburg's Tigers take to the road to meet New Castle Chrysler in a 7:30 p.m. scrimmage at Huffman Field in Henry County.

LUMBERJACK DASH 5K SAT. AT MILAN PARK

 

MILAN - The Lumberjack Dash 5K Run/Walk gets an early 7:30 p.m. start this Saturday, Aug. 11, at Milan Park.

Held in memory of Joshua William Beam, proceeds from the race go to the Moyer Foundation to send kids to Camp Erin, a camp for grieving kids who have lost a parent or loved one.

Pre­registered packet pickup and race day registration will be from 6:45­-7:15 a.m.

Runners and walkers are invited to dress like a lumberjack to win prizes. Door prizes will be drawn for after the race.

Entry fee is $25, with checks payable to Team Beam.

NEW TURF HELPS... AND DOESN'T HELP

 

 

East Central's new 24/7 Field Turf was ready for viewing purposes only prior to last Friday night's Red-Black intrasquad scrimmage. IHSAA TO AIR HALL OF FAME CLASSIC

 

INDIANAPOLIS - The IHSAA and Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame entered into a three‐year agreement Aug. 2 to be the exclusive video content producer of the Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic.

The eight games will air on the IHSAA’s online video platform, IHSAAtv.org, part of the IHSAA Champions Network, and on the ISC Sports Network.

The 2018 Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic will be played at the New Castle Fieldhouse Friday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Dec. 29.

KNIGHTS OPEN GOLF SEPT. 16 AT DEARBORN

 

 

AURORA - South Dearborn High School's Knights Open golf fund-raiser is set for Sunday, Sept. 16, at Dearborn Country Club.

Entry fee is $60 per person or $240 for a four-person team and includes greens fees, carts, skins, dinner, beverages and awards.
