Moores Hill set to celebrate 200 years

Later this year, Moores Hill will celebrate its 200th birthday – marking the year the town was “pioneered,” however, not the year it was platted.

Contiguous cities study electricity companies merger

Lawrenceburg Mayor Kelly Mollaun revealed Monday, Aug. 6, that a feasibility study has been launched to combine Lawrenceburg’s and Greendale’s electricity companies.

The idea is being pursued to lower operating costs for both cities, and does not include sewer or water services.

Mollaun told council and the public that he and Greendale Mayor Alan Weiss have signed a preliminary agreement, and read the memorandum verbatim:

Benefit planned for critically injured man

On July 16, 31-year-old Gordon McIntosh, West Harrison, lost control of his vehicle on North Dearborn Road, was ejected from his truck through the driver’s side window, and went over the guardrail.

He was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, including a traumatic brain injury.

McIntosh has made strides in his recovery in the past few weeks, but the family is still in need of help. McIntosh was self-employed and won’t be able to work any time soon.

InvestABLE Indiana savings celebrates 1st year anniversary

One year ago, Indiana State Treasurer Kelly Mitchell announced the launch of the INvestABLE Indiana savings plan.

The plan was made possible by the passing of the ABLE Act of 2014. It allows for the creation of tax-advantaged savings accounts for individuals with disabilities to save for their future, and pay for disability related expenses without endangering access to vital public benefits.

‘Come hell or high water’ is more than an expression

Remember the tiki barge that sank in April? The city is going to raise it from the ooze of the Ohio River come hell or high water.

Well, the high water part occurred in the spring, but the hell is coming right now from the Army Corps of Engineers.

The Corps wants the damn thing “out ’o the water” by Sept. 14, or the city loses its permit to host a river restaurant.
